I had this thought on my walk the other night and it was profound enough to me that I made a memo. Just food for thought, but so true...

The Holy Spirit will let you do all the things you want to do, which you know you shouldn't do, but that God knows you're going to do.

When we put off things that should get done;

It might feel like we are having all the fun.

But, those things don't go away;

They grow, and in our minds they stay.

A small task becomes a huge vision in our head;

Soon, it sounds better just to lay in bed.

What again was that thing that we dread?

Life goes on and it's slipped our mind;

Now we really must be way behind.

Behind on what?

How'd we get in this rut?

What stopped our endeavor?

Was there a catastrophe we needed to weather?

Maybe the distraction was the actual pest,

And that was putting off our final test.

Now things are stagnant, and movement's at a halt;

You are feeling like it must be all your fault.

Forget about yesterday and the part of today that's gone by;

Stay in this moment being prepared to try.

For trying is all we really can do;

God's plan for us is set, and we don't have a clue.

Just take time to gratefully enjoy each day;

While also remembering to pray.

Do everything you can;

And He will lend a helping hand.

Don't let yourself get stressed;

He knows you're doing your best.

AMEN

***I wrote this poem after talking to a teacher that was struggling to finish the last few pages of work needed to obtain her Master's Degree.

What happened to our schools today?

Didn't kids use to run and play;

Or at least have something to say?

Now they hold a tablet to their face,

This really feels like a disgrace.

What should the teacher do,

When the classroom dynamic seems so askew?

Lessons are planned online for students that are seen in class;

Maybe if no one talks, then no one can harass.

No wonder conversation is like a lost art form;

Sitting in silence has become the norm.

Have kids become as robotic as the devices they hold?

Could this be a reason the world has become so cold?

I think this is due to a combination of a lot of things;

Remember when Red Bull was supposed to give you wings?

What good are wings when you're sitting in place;

Yet we still spend tons of money putting people in space.

Why is that, when it's no longer a race?

Meanwhile kids can barely trace.

Did we forget about art and creating?

Instead, we just keep on rating.

Asking, "How'd you like that app?"

"Did it operate smoothly, and compute in a snap?"

Maybe all this tech is a clever trap,

It no longer moves us ahead--but instead, it holds us back.

Amen
